Clinical education is essential to growing the healthcare workforce. But for years, the systems supporting clinical rotations were fragmented, manual, and inefficient. ACEMAPP was created to change that.

More than a decade ago, Michigan Health Council brought together education and healthcare partners across Southeast Michigan through a grant-funded initiative. Programs were expanding. Clinical space was limited. Coordinators were managing placements through spreadsheets, emails, and paper files. Requirements varied by site. Students repeated the same onboarding steps again and again.

It was clear: if we wanted to strengthen the healthcare workforce, clinical education needed better infrastructure.

Over time, staff roles can shift, and unused administrative accounts may remain active. To maintain security and keep your organization’s account running smoothly, admin accounts with no login activity for one year will automatically be removed from ACEMAPP. Regularly updating your admin list helps ensure that important notifications, scheduling updates, and organizational changes reach the right people.

When it comes to clinical education, collaboration isn’t just helpful — it’s essential. That’s the guiding philosophy behind an initiative at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC), showcased at the 2025 Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) Aspire Convention. Sarah Lesniak, MS, RN, NPD-BC, CSPHA, and Jill Cohen, BA, presented their poster, “Regional Collaborative: Initiatives to Enhance Nursing Student Clinical Placements,” detailing how a multi-hospital, multi-school collaboration came together to redesign their clinical placement system.

Health systems around the country are constantly expanding – whether that is through mergers, new facility acquisitions, or moving their own services to new locations – and the process can be very daunting. Every expansion requires aligning practices and protocols. With ACEMAPP, this process is streamlined and well-documented, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks. Resources are available for newly acquired locations to seamlessly integrate into the ecosystem.

The team behind ACEMAPP is focused on adopting best practices that include lean processes. Consider the case of Wellstar Health System, the largest and most integrated healthcare system in the state of Georgia. Organizational efficiency is key when providing world-class care in a system that includes 11 hospitals, more than 325 medical office locations, 8 cancer centers, 91 rehabilitation centers, 35 imaging centers, 20 urgent care locations, and five health parks. Wellstar adopted ACEMAPP and lean processes across its entire health system, creating consistency across the board.
